Would you sell your product on Facebook?

Facebook may soon change the way in which people buy your products. The social networking company is currently testing a new ‘Buy’ button that encourages users to purchase items directly from your sponsored Facebook ad or company page. It works on both the desktop and mobile versions of the platform.

If the research goes well and this new feature becomes commercially available, it could add great value to your Facebook advertising campaigns. The button acts as a strong call to action and leads quickly from click to purchase. For consumers, this new button is an added level of convenience as they can shop and socialise at the same time.

And with a new study showing that retail therapy makes people three times happier, you may get positive product mentions post purchase, via updates and comments. In keeping with the recent changes that Facebook has made to its privacy policies (by adjusting the default privacy settings from ‘Public’ to Friends Only’), this new ‘Buy’ button is designed with safety and security in mind. Facebook has stated: “None of the credit or debit card information people share with Facebook when completing a transaction will be shared with other advertisers, and people can select whether or not they’d like to save payment information for future purchases.”
